Gustavo Sarago

MaNAGING PRINCIPal

Prior to founding Sarago Hotel Group, Gustavo was Chief Development Officer for Lotte Hotels & Resorts, Americas a leading owner/operator of luxury and lifestyle hotels across the world.


Before joining Lotte, Gustavo was SVP, Head of Hotels at AIG Global Real Estate (AIGGRE) for fifteen years, where he established AIGGRE’s modern-day lodging platform through thematic-based investment strategies. Gustavo was responsible for originating, negotiating, structuring, and executing principal lodging investments on behalf of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) and the investment funds sponsored by AIGGRE. Additionally, Gustavo oversaw all aspects of portfolio management for the owned hotel portfolio totaling 3,100 rooms with revenues exceeding $200M.


Prior to AIGGRE, Gustavo was Vice President-Senior Research Analyst in the real estate research group of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. (FBR), specializing in the analysis

of publicly-traded lodging REITs and C-corps. During this time, Mr. Sarago formulated investment recommendations for institutional clients and participated in over $2.0B of lodging related capital market transactions. In 2007, Gustavo was honored in The Wall

Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” Analysts Survey for his investment recommendations in the hotel sector.


Gustavo is a graduate of the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University and resides in New York City.
